Getting your first real experience
Study gives you knowledge. Experience makes it believable.
You do not need family connections or an F1 placement to begin. Use the route below to practise the same habits at student, club, supplier, workshop or local-event level.
Marketing, business or communications study
A degree can provide useful frameworks, but applications become credible when those frameworks are used on a real campaign, event, club, student team or small business with measurable results.
Events and hospitality
Circuits, clubs, conferences, agencies and premium hospitality develop operational detail and client-facing judgement. Explain scale, constraints, service recovery and the result—not just attendance.
Student team commercial function
Formula Student teams need sponsorship, budgets, supplier relationships, launch events and content. Build a proper prospect pipeline and partner report rather than sending an undifferentiated request for money.
Transfer from another industry
B2B sales, account management, agency, sport, entertainment and technology partnerships can transfer directly. Learn the rights structure and calendar, then show why the same commercial discipline applies.
Access should not depend on already knowing someone in the paddock.Motorsport UK’s Inclusion Hub lists clubs, volunteering, education, scholarships and support networks, including routes intended to widen access for young people and underrepresented groups.
